Currently, I am a postgraduate research student at the University of Edinburgh in Clinical Psychology. I've been an outdoor
enthusiast since I was a child, as my father was a park ranger for Yellowstone National Park. I have been a competitive runner since I was 14 years old; starting in middle school and through college (competed for Minnesota-Duluth's cross country and track teams). As a "retired" collegiate athlete, I spend my free time running road and trail races. I participated in the New York City Marathon, with the Lupus Research Alliance team, and am currently training for my first ultra marathon. One of the reasons I chose to complete my postgraduate education in Edinburgh, Scotland, was the proximity to the highlands, the outdoor culture and to be around people with similar mindsets to me (kind of like Colorado or Oregon people, but in the United Kingdom). As a postgraduate student, I have recently joined the Edinburgh University Hare and Hounds Running Club, and the Edinburgh University Mountaineering Club.
