I did my first Spartan race a few years ago with friends and thought it was the hardest thing I’d ever done…and couldn’t wait to do another. It started with my husband and I wanting to do all three Spartan distances in one year and led to wanting to compete. 2020 was a huge blow to my plans to excel in the competitive heat to work my way into the “pro” elite heat. I took full advantage of my year and trained hard, started running, and came back and won my first competitive race in 2021. From there I qualified to race with the elites and jumped right in. I placed 2nd in my first elite race and have since earned 2 more podium spots. Obstacle racing is a constant learning and growth process and I love that about the sport. The community is unlike any other. So supportive and they push you to be your best. I did my first 50k last year and now aim to shift my focus a bit more to longer distance trail races and mountain races.
